SUMMARY:School Supply Drive 2022
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the month of July\, we will have donation bins in the lobby for our annual School Supply Drive. We are doing it earlier in the summer\, as we are not only assisting the Beaverton School District\, but the district and Sunset Church are partnering alongside the nonprofit Wake Up Beaverton this year. \nWe are being asked to collect the six most needed school supply items: \n\nSpiral notebooks (college ruled)\nComposition books (college ruled)\nBlack/blue ink pens\nGlue sticks (purple preferred)\nColored markers (fine point & thin)\n#2 Ticonderoga pencils\n\n\nAfter we collect supplies\, Wake Up Beaverton then serves in the role of a clearinghouse on behalf of the school district. They handle the logistics of gathering\, sorting\, and storing items at select area schools. Once supplies are stored\, the school district steps in and oversees the distribution of supplies to students and teachers. \nIf you are interested in volunteering to help sort supplies with Wake Up Beaverton in August at one of the schools in the area\, please contact Sheri Schlief or Maddie Brown. \nTHANKS in advance for your participation in this year’s drive. DESCRIPTION:Sunset Church and Union Gospel Mission are pleased to host Dove Award-Winning Christian music artist\, Mitch McVicker\, live in concert. \nThe longtime musical collaborator of the late Rich Mullins was with Rich in the accident that took Rich’s life. Mitch underwent a length recovery period; however\, he would record 12 albums after the accident. His concerts have been described as “a little bit Mark Twain meets MacGyver. His quirky and inventive approach includes insightful song lyrics\, unconventional instruments\, and profound storytelling.” \nCost: FREE. (For those who wish to give\, we will take donations to help cover the cost of the event and to support the artist.) \nPlease come join us for uplighting music and an ice cream social in an evening of family-friendly fellowship.

All students entering 6th-12th grade this fall are invited. \nPopcorn and soda are on us! And we’ll be having a raffle for a $100 Century gift card. \nCome at 6:15 pm to meet up in the Arcade at the theater.
