Fruit of the Spirit Artwork Highlight: Peace

During the summer, we’re going through a sermon series on the Fruit of the Spirit together. Each week focuses on a specific fruit — looking at the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

We’re also asking specific artists in our church to reflect, pray, and meditate on a fruit and then express their creativity through that word. The creative forms could be paintings, glasswork, pottery, music, poetry, or anything else that speaks to them.

During this week’s sermon, we talked about PEACE as a Fruit of the Spirit. The artist, Rachel Lynn, expressed her creativity through a painting.

"I wanted to create an image showing that we receive God's promise of peace only by walking with Him. I wanted to paint nature, which is where I often find His peace, as it shows God’s creation and promises. Flowers I believe are God’s promises, as they are provided for and protected by the Creator of the Universe. Peace is found in storms, and valleys and in the mountains – all things portrayed in my art. I left the sky stormy, to represent even through the “storms” of life, God’s peace is promised. The color red on Jesus’ sash, and in the flowers, represents grounding and belonging. The mountains represent where we have come from, and where we are going. The bright and contrasting colors represent peace in the chaos. This piece is my offering to the Prince of Peace."
