Helping Hands is Getting a New Name!

Our much-loved food pantry and clothes closet are being rebranded! You will start to see the updated name and logo around the building and online as the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet. The core mission stays the same. We will continue to provide food and clothing to neighbors in need, just as we always have!

Say Hello to a Global Partner!
Eric & Judith Hedeen
Thursday, August 6, 6:30-8 pm, Fireside Room

Great news… The Hedeen family, one of Sunset’s Global Partners, has arrived from Papua New Guinea! Mark your calendars to learn how God is working in Papua New Guinea through Ethnos365. Eric and Judith mentor local church planters, provide orientation and coaching to new Bible translators, and serve in multiple ways so that many tribes in Papua New Guinea will be transformed by Christ.

Light of Day Book Reading
With Lorna and Bob Day
Sunday, July 26, 11:30 am, Student Center

Join Lorna Day, author of Light of Day, for a reading and conversation about her memoir recounting the six years her son, Sam, lived with cancer before his death at age 15. Lorna writes with honesty, humor, and hope. Her story explores the challenges of childhood cancer and offers personal reflections on faith, grief, resilience, and finding meaning in the midst of suffering. Lorna and her husband, Bob, will share excerpts from the book and participate in a question-and-answer session following the reading. Books will be available for purchase in hardback or paperback at the event or on Amazon.

Serve With Us: Sunday Morning Coffee!

Coffee has a way of bringing people together, and we’d love for you to help make Sundays feel warm and welcoming at Sunset. Sunset’s Coffee Team is looking for a few new people to serve one Sunday each month. You’ll partner with another volunteer to either set up before service (around 9 am) or help clean up after church (until approximately 12:15 pm). Whether you’re serving as a couple, on your own, or with older kids, it’s a great opportunity to connect with others while serving the church community. No experience is needed, and training is provided! If you have any questions or want to serve, please contact Stacey Hillier at (503)515-6255 or hillierfam@msn.com.

Project Homeless Connect Event
Friday, July 24, 9 am-3 pm

Sunset Church is hosting a connection event in partnership with Project Homeless Connect again! This one-day event helps provide extensive, critical services and resources for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability in our area. We need a few volunteers to come together and serve. The event lasts for most of the day, but those who are serving are welcome to stay for a portion of the day according to their availability.
