Food Pantry
We have several opportunities to volunteer in our food pantry. Check out these job descriptions to see what might fit best with your schedule and abilities.
Makes sure there are enough pre-made bags of food for the entire pantry shift. Uses shelf signs and printed food lists to fill bags. Requires bending and lifting 10-25 lbs.
Notifies clients when orders are ready and help load food into cars. Requires lifting 10-15 lbs.
Keeps order fulfillment on track, assists volunteers with tasks, and problem solves as needed. Weighs and stocks incoming donations. Requires lifting 5-15 lbs.
Takes client orders in the parking lot using a tablet or smartphone. Answers client questions and provides information about the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet.
Fills produce bags for client orders based on the number of people in each family. Requires lifting 10-15 lbs.
Uses a Chromebook to record incoming client orders and writes order information on cards for Produce and Shoppers to fill orders. Updates Oregon Food Bank appointment list as clients check in.
Reviews and fills client orders of refrigerated, frozen and bakery goods. Requires lifting 5-15 lbs.
Clothes Closet
Volunteers in the clothes closet sort donations and assist clients as they shop. Take a look at the job descriptions to see how you can help!
Inspects clothing donations for quality, stains, and odors. Sorts clothing accordingly and folds/hangs items before clients shop. Requires lifting 5-15 lbs.
Assists clients with new registration or check in, explains guidelines, and answers questions. Checks out clients by reviewing selections based on client’s registration card.
