How do we use what we have been given to bless others?
Come join the Racial Justice Ministry for six weeks of exploring the concept of privilege throughout the Bible with the book Subversive Witness: Scripture’s Guide to Leveraging Privilege by Dominique Gillard. Each week is a stand-alone class, so feel free to come to one or all six.
January 28 – Pharaoh’s Daughter | February 4 – Esther | February 11 – Moses | February 18 – Paul & Silas | February 25 – Jesus | March 3 – Zacchaeus
To be subversive is to disrupt, agitate, disobey, challenge, or undermine an established system. Gillard explains that privilege is not rooted in condemnation, nor used to shame or guilt. He states in his book, “When privilege is understood missionally and our lives are guided by the Spirit, it becomes a subversive tool we can leverage to further the kingdom and sacrificially love our neighbors.”
Snacks will be provided and books will be available for purchase.
We are meeting up in the Student Center. Look for signs to direct you to the class location.
